The journey begins at the charming Old Port of Santa Maria di Leuca, a place rich in history and allure. We sail past Punta Meliso, where three iconic symbols of the region stand tall: the Basilica Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae, the Leuca Lighthouse, and the Monumental Staircase, which majestically connects the sanctuary to the port. Before heading towards the Ionian side, we make a short stop at the enchanting Cazzafri Cave, then change course and set sail towards the sunset.

We cross the beautiful bay of Leuca, nestled between Punta Meliso and Punta Ristola, the southernmost point of Puglia. From here, the panorama offers a breathtaking view of the elegant nineteenth-century villas and the characteristic “bagnarole,” small masonry changing rooms once used by ladies for discreet bathing. We enter the heart of the Ponente side, discovering natural wonders such as the mystical Porcinara Cave and the legendary Devil’s Cave, followed by the River Cave, Three Doors Cave, Giants’ Cave, Stable Cave, and finally, the spectacular Dragon Cave.

SWIMMING STOP

In a magical atmosphere, we drop anchor in a sheltered bay just as the sky is painted with the warm hues of the sunset. Here, we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by the golden reflections of the setting sun. After the swim, we climb back aboard to toast with a glass of sparkling wine, accompanied by a delicious aperitif, perfect for savoring the moment as the sea turns shades of red and orange.

RETURN TO THE PORT

After experiencing the magic of the sunset at sea, we resume our journey, crossing the bay of Leuca once again and admiring its imposing cliffs and caves, bathed in the soft evening light. We conclude the excursion by returning to the Old Port, carrying with us the memory of a unique and unforgettable experience.
